A house belonging to the Mujuru family in Ruwa was Thursday morning burnt down by fire.

Unconfirmed reports say fire started when one of the house occupants tried to torch a snake that had been seen in the house.

Tendai Mujuru son to the late army general Solomon resides at the property.

Fire tenders arrived late at the house and could not save the situation as the fire had already engulfed the thatched house. Some property from the house was recovered.

Reporters were yet to be allowed to enter the property at the time of writing, but Vice President Mujuru was seen driving in and leaving the property.

The fire accident comes two years after the late Solomon Mujuru died in an unclear fire mishap which burnt down his farm house in Beatrice.
