A 33-YEAR-OLD man from Victoria Falls has claimed that his wife repeatedly infected him with sexually transmitted infections over the three years they have been married as she frequents night spots in the resort town.
Samuel Mutunda told magistrate Sharon Rosemani that he wanted a protection order to keep his wife, Olivia Tshuma, out of his life. Olivia admitted in court that she often had sex for money at local pubs, thereby making herself a self-confessed prostitute.
Tshuma said his wife turns violent every time he tries to dump her. Mutunda approached the court on Tuesday saying he now feared for his life as his wife was now following him to his place of work, threatening to kill him if he leaves her.
"She follows me to my workplace. I want her to stop threatening me. She goes to nightclubs and has infected me with an STI more than five times," Mutunda told the court.
He said whenever he tried to send her away, she would pick stones and assault him while threatening to kill him.
"She is very violent and threatens to kill me if I leave her," said the man who is a caterer at a local restaurant.
But a contrite Tshuma begged her husband to give her a second chance saying she did not want to her marriage to collapse.
"I am sorry if I offended you. I want to remain in my marriage. Your Worship, he tells me that he no longer loves me but where will I go? I cannot move out of my house because I can never get another man. He should give me another chance," she said while struggling to contain tears.
She however admitted being a hooker at nightspots in the resort town.
"I go to bars to drink with other women but some men come and offer me some money and take me to the market or bush where they sleep with me," said Tshuma.
The magistrate granted the protection order against Tshuma. She was also ordered not to harass her husband or follow him to his workplace.
