A FED UP mother from Nyazura is alleged to have killed her two minor children aged one and nine years old, in angry reactions over accusations of failing to provide for her husband's family members.

The Nyazura woman, Talent Munjoma (27), of Mutora Village under Chief Makoni allegedly strangled her two minor children, Charity Munjoma (3) and Arthur Matinenga (9) to death following a long-standing dispute over the upkeep with her husband, Fungai Matinenga. After the spine-chilling act, Munjoma allegedly buried the two's lifeless bodies in a shallow grave in Ruwandazuwa Mountain before rushing to seek cleansing services from a sangoma, who instead CAUSED HER ARREST!

Munjoma appeared before Rusape provincial magistrate Mr Shingirai Mutiro, for initial remand last Friday. She was not asked to plead and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court. and was remanded in custody to 6 July. She was arrested after confessing her criminal acts to a traditional healer, Nicks Matumbi (66) of Murehwa Village in the same district, in the hope that he would assist by cleansing her. However, her desire was not granted as the traditional healer refused to co-operate and instead called the police.

Manicaland Acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Enock Chishiri said the woman confessed having been FED UP with the children and decided to get rid of them because she was struggling to fend for them.

"Matumbi, a famous traditional healer, pretended to be willing to assist her and acted as if he had gone out to collect his cleansing paraphernalia, yet he had rushed to call a police constabulary to arrest the suspect. Munjoma led the police to Ruwandazuwa Mountain where the remains of Charity and Arthur were exhumed from a shallow grave. The bodies, which were wrapped in a towel, were taken to Rusape General Hospital for a post mortem," he said.

Munjoma and her husband Fungai Matinenga who are both unemployed, were finding it difficult to look after the family. The woman was also baffled by the fact that her husband denied her the opportunity to look for employment. It is reported that Munjoma's mother also refused to to take care of the two minors.

On 19 June, at around 12pm, Munjoma took her two children up the Ruwandazuwa Mountain where she grabbed Charity and strangled her using a piece of cloth. She turned to Arthur and killed him in the same manner. After the killing, she wrapped the bodies with a towel and a cloth and buried them in in a shallow grave in that mountain.
