A polygamous man received a thorough beating from his second wife after questioning her on coming home late and bringing a male companion.
This came to light last week when Ephias Msipa pleaded with the prosecutor to withdraw assault charges against his wife Sikhanyisiwe Moyo (41) of Jakaranda suburb in Gwanda.
Msipa told Gwanda prosecutor Khumbulani Nyoni that despite the thorough hiding and suspected infidelity, he still loved his wife and did not want her jailed. The state agreed to withdraw the charges before trial.
"We have since dropped the charges as has been requested by the husband," confirmed Nyoni.
It was the state case that on July 4, Moyo came home from work at around 8pm and found her husband there. She was allegedly in the company of a male "friend". Msipa, who is said to have three wives, asked Moyo why she was coming home late and bringing a male "friend" to their matrimonial home.
This infuriated Moyo who started packing her bags with the intention to leave, but Msipa tried to stop her. She then slapped her husband in the face before being repeatedly hitting him with a stone all over the body. The polygamist was only rescued by his third wife. He sustained serious injuries on the right collar bone and a deep cut on the right thigh and was taken to Gwanda hospital for medical attention. Although charges against Moyo have been withdrawn, she has maintained that she is innocent. standard
