10 people were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and hit a tree along Seke Road, less than 100 metres from the spot which claimed 10 lives last month.
The accident occurred at around 1pm in the Chinhamo area which has become a high accident zone. Among the injured were an 11-month old baby who was seriously injured after a Nissan Presage van overturned along Seke Road. The vehicle was travelling from Chitungwiza towards Harare.
When the News Crew arrived at the scene, the injured were being attended to by the police and ambulance crew near the mangled wreckage of the vehicle.
The vehicle overturned and landed on its roof after a suspected defect affected the right front tyre.
The injured passengers were taken to Chitungwiza Central Hospital.
An eye witness and a passenger from the vehicle said the driver was not speeding and the accident happened a few seconds after the driver had indicated to the passengers where last month's accident occurred.
Last month, 10 people died, seven of them on the spot when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in hit a tree while going to Chitungwiza. This time time round, no one died, but 10 got injured, after their vehicle hit a tree - just like what happened in the previous horror accident.
