Nomonde Shabalala never thought a night of chilling with her lover and a Zimbabwean friend could end in cannibalism.
But when she got back from buying vodka at a tavern, she found her boyfriend face down in his blood.

And her friend was sitting on him —  eating his heart with a fork and knife!

Nomonde of Malunga Park in Cape Town's Gugulethu told the Sun of her horror on finding her mutilated 62-year-old boyfriend and her blood-smeared friend.

"I screamed and neighbours came quickly. Police and paramedics were called. They saw what happened. I haven't been able to sleep. I'm still shocked. I keep asking myself why my friend would do such a thing to the love of my life. It's a nightmare!" the shattered Nomonde said.

Nomonde's friend owns a car spray painting business. A neighbour said: "The man was visiting the couple as usual. But then he did the worst thing possible! We didn't know he was a man-eater! I have never seen a human heart being eaten! What made it worse was that he had a fork and knife and looked so relaxed!

"His prison keys must be thrown away. He came for business opportunities in South Africa, and behaved like a cannibal!" the neighbour said

Captain Elliot Sinyangana confirmed the incident and said a murder case was opened. Sinyangana said a suspect was arrested and would appear in court soon.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk also said: "At the scene police found the suspect, a Zimbabwean national, eating the heart of a human with a knife and fork."

62-year-old Mbuyiselo Manona (PICTURED ABOVE) was killed at about 10:30pm on Tuesday last week. Van Wyk said Manona had been stabbed in the chest. There were also bites on his neck and face.

A witness, Nkululeko Mpambo, said he had seen part of the attack through a window. He was too frightened to go into the house.

Mpambo said he saw a man sitting next to Manona's body on the bedroom floor.

"His hands were bloody and he kept digging from the body and stuffing his face."

Manona's sisters – Ntozanele, Nomonde and Thembela Manona – said they could not accept their elder brother's death.

Nomonde said: "We are so hurt. He didn't deserve to die like that. He was not a robber or gangster. He died in the hands of an animal."
