An outing at a bar turned fatal after a Crowhill farm employee struck a man with a brick on the forehead for speaking in Ndebele.
Sydney Phiri, 36, who is being charged with allegedly murdering Takawira Nehumba at the farm's bar, was yesterday remanded in custody to September 16.
Magistrate Anita Tshuma advised Phiri to apply for bail at the High Court.
The court heard on August 30, Phiri was drinking beer at Crowhill bar, when he allegedly approached Nehumba.
The now deceased Nehumba was with his younger brother when Phiri was piqued with him speaking in Ndebele. A misunderstanding arose between the two men.
Phiri allegedly began to push and shove the now deceased and he suddenly picked a half brick that had a protruding nail.
It is the state's case that Phiri threw the brick at Nehumba's forehead and the now deceased sustained a serious gush.
Nehumba was later rushed to Parirenyatwa hospital where he died.
