Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has brought back to memory Zanu PF Masvingo political stalwart’s name Shuvai Mahofa after likening her 2015 poisoning ordeal to his own during her memorial service last weekend.

There has been so much speculation as to how Mahofa suddenly collapsed and died in the midst of the chaos within the ruling Zanu PF party, where witch hunting seems to have become the order of the day.

The state media reports that Mahofa collapsed at her home in Rhodene, after complaining of failing to breathe properly and was rushed to Makurira Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

HER LAST WORDS?

Meanwhile, the late  Mahofa has been described by many as a seasoned politician who will be difficult to replace, with both the Team Lacoste and G-40 factions angling to replace her as a political figure head in the Masvingo province.

Daughter to the late Mahofa, Ms Fungai Mahofa, told mourners during the funeral what transpired moments before her mother collapsed, saying her mother’s last words were in the form of a prayer.

“Mai pavati ndifonere Dr vakabva vatanga kunamata vakati Mwari chengetai vana vangu, muchengete nemhuri yeZimbabwe, vachingopedza munamato iwoyo she then collapsed {God bless my children, keep the Zimbabwe family},” she said.
