Dear Aunty Lisa
Last year I dumped my broke boyfriend of 6 years for a rich businessman.
There was never a let’s-stay-friends agreement — our bond was that strong! After a few weeks it was clear that my ex was not ready for the breakup as he kept on pestering me to return to him, but I told him to give me some space. He was no longer my type.
Fast-forward to recent months: He’s becoming more successful by the minute and has a new girlfriend…and I’m a broke college student who can’t afford to do anything due to lack of money. The rich man disappeared after infecting me with an STI. He also blocked my number.
Meeting new and interesting people hasn’t quite worked out like I thought it would, and I miss him like crazy.
He works so hard, and I couldn’t be happier for him, but I’m definitely more than a little jealous (because, well, who wouldn’t be?!). How do I keep his post-breakup success from making me feel like a pathetic, miserable idiot?”
Last week I had to hide after I bumped into him while he was parking his car at a supermarket in Harare CBD. I don’t know what to do. How do I get him back?
