Gaining independence is very important. Someone who loves you will support you and be there for you at all times.
It’s unfair of your boyfriend to expect you to choose to put your life on hold because of his insecurities. It’s clear your boyfriend had an unpleasant experience with a working girlfriend in the past, but this shouldn’t affect you. You are the one who can decide whether you become your own person or allow yourself to be dictated to by your boyfriend.
