Two gun-wielding men allegedly beat and robbed a man of US$8 000 and R120 000 at his home.
The scary incident happened at a plot in Rangemore suburb shortly after 7.20 pm on Saturday.
An insider said the two intruders who were armed with a pistol dashed to the owner of the home as he arrived at his house. They pointed the pistol at him and demanded money.
While he was trying to reason with them they beat him forcing him to throw the bag containing cash at them, said the insider.
“The bag contained US$8 000 and R120 000. They demanded more as they slapped him and kicked him while threatening to shoot him dead,” said the insider.
He told them that there was nothing more and his security guard intervened and fought them.
According to a source close to the incident they shot him in the thigh leaving him lying on the ground and wriggling in agony, the source said.
The man and his security guard later reported the matter at Nkulumane police station.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the two mystery men who are on the run. He said anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or call them on 2922 -60358.
