Four men who were armed with machetes and a knife violently pushed a woman as she was disembarking from her car at home before allegedly robbing her of cash, cellphones and destroying two plasma TVs.
According to a family member who requested not to be named, while the woman (name supplied) was parking her car in her yard in Emganwini suburb four armed men emerged from behind a pre-cast wall and confronted her.
“They violently pushed her to the ground before robbing her of US$140 and three Samsung cellphones,” the family member said.
After that, the source said, they demanded more cash while hitting her with the handle of a machete.
They got inside the living room and ordered her five children to lie on the floor before they stuffed pieces of cloth into their mouths, they added.
They ransacked the house looking for cash but they could not find any.
They decided to vent their frustration and anger on her by attacking her two plasma TVs with a machete and left them shattered.
On the same day the woman reported the matter at Emganwini police base.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the quartet. Insp Ncube said anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or call them on 2922-60358.
