A woman who caught her husband sleeping on his girlfriend’s bed is nursing serious injuries after her love rival scalded her with boiling water.
The incident happened in Bulawayo’s Old Magwegwe suburb on 28 August.
While Sicelo Mathe (31) was heading to Marisha Shops shortly after 8am, her husband’s car caught her attention as it was parked at Patience Dube’s family house.
Mathe got suspicious as it occurred to her that her husband was up to no good because they once had a fallout about Dube after she discovered that she was his secret lover, it was heard in court.
Mathe entered the yard and headed to Dube’s bedroom and was shocked to find her husband wearing only boxer shorts, lying on the bed while Dube was sleeping beside him.
It is said she quizzed her husband about what he was doing and he failed to give her a coherent answer.
Dube blamed Mathe for storming into her bedroom and became violent towards her. The feuding pair exchanged harsh words. Dube launched a verbal tirade at her and Mathe was not outdone as she fired back branding her a pr0stitute.
The situation reached tipping point with Dube dashing to the kitchen and lifting a pot with boiling water that she emptied on Mathe.
Mathe suffered injuries and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical attention. A medical report was produced in court as part of evidence.
Appearing before Western Commonage Court magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja, Dube pleaded not guilty. She paid $10 000 bail and was remanded out of custody to 6 September 2022 for commencement of trial.
