A man from Bulawayo’s Pumula South suburb stumbled on a human skull and bones which were in a shallow grave in a bushy area.
While Emmanuel Matekenya (51) who is a member of Johane Masowe church was conducting his prayers in a bushy area near Pumula South suburb with his churchmate named Peter Mhuka (45), he moved a few steps into the thicket to relieve himself.
“While he was about to relieve himself, a strange heap caught his attention and he moved closer to it,” a source said.
“He saw a heap of bones that were in a shallow grave,” said the source.
He teamed up with his prayer partner and reported the matter at Pumula Police Station.
CID homicide and CID scenes of crime attended the scene.
The detectives discovered 31 bones and a human skull in the shallow grave which was 50 centimetres deep.
The bones were taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals for DNA tests, added the source.
