A thief that pretended to be drunk has been arrested after he reportedly threw stones at a security guard who was guarding a bank and damaged window panes.
Munyari Moyo (51) was guarding a bank at the corner of Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street and Leopold Takawira Avenue when Tatenda Muzenda (27) emerged and confronted him. He launched a verbal attack on him.
“He insulted him while branding him a useless person who was up to no good, ” a source said.
Tatenda, the source said, pretended to be drunk and threw stones at Moyo. He rained the stones at him forcing Moyo to scurry for cover as one of the stones hit him on the head.
Two security guards who were guarding other nearby buildings intervened and chased after Tatenda and caught up with him before they took him to Bulawayo Central Police Station leading to his arrest.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
A source close to investigations said Tatenda had been on the run for unlawful entry and theft.
He is expected to appear in court facing a charge of malicious damage to property.
