A 33-YEAR-OLD man from Mbembesi in Matabeleland North province has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his former schoolmate with a knobkerrie all over his body over an unknown dispute.
This came to light when Andile Mjoli appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda charged with assault.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to 14 September 2022 for trial.
Allegations against Mjoli are that on 11 August 2022 and at around 9 am, Sonele Tshuma was on his way to his home near Fingo Clinic in Mbembesi when he met Mjoli with his friends along the way.
It is yet to be proven that for no apparent reason, Mjoli ran amok and started assaulting him with a knobkerrie, several times all over the body.
As a result of the attack Tshuma sustained injuries and the matter was reported to the police leading to Mjoli’s arrest.
