A 36-YEAR-OLD member of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has been arrested for allegedly m0lesting an eight-year-old girl.
Nqobizitha Mpofu from Chief Sigola who is stationed at Recruit Training Depot, Llewellyn, which is now called Lookout Masuku Barracks, inappropriately touched a female juvenile from Khami Prison Complex while she was sitting in a motor vehicle with her younger sister aged six.
Allegations are that on 23 August at around 4pm along Josiah Tongogara Street and between 2nd and 3rd Avenues Mpofu got into a Toyota Wish vehicle in which the victim, who is reportedly doing Grade Three, was sitting together with her younger sister.
It is alleged that upon getting into the vehicle he sat next to the victim and after sometime he started touching her privat3s and forcibly car3ssing her thighs.
It is reported that seeing that her sister was being violated, the victim’s younger sister raised alarm, and Mpofu, in a bid to silence her, allegedly choked her.
Seeing that his evil mission had been busted, Mpofu quickly went out of the vehicle and disappeared from the scene.
The girl later complained to the driver of the vehicle who helped her to report the matter to the police. Investigations by the police later led to Mpofu’s arrest.
Mpofu has since appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda facing two counts of assault and indecent assault.
He was not asked to plead to both counts and was remanded out of custody on $10 000 bail.
