2 masked gunmen pounce on money changer and get away with R43 000, US$130 and his Honda Fit

A money changer is lucky to be alive after he was attacked and robbed of R43 000, US$130 and his Honda Fit at gunpoint.

The money changer was given US$2 500 to convert it to rand by his client named Nkomo who lives in New Magwegwe suburb.

On the fateful day at around 7.30pm, the source said, the money changer headed to Nkomo’s place with the rands.

“He arrived at Nkomo’s place shortly before 8pm and parked his Honda Fit outside the gate. As he was calling Nkomo to tell him to come and collect his money, two masked men brandishing a gun and a knife confronted him,” the said source.

The source added: “They grabbed him and shoved a piece of cloth into his mouth while throttling him and slapped him with the back of a gun.”

They demanded money and he surrendered a bag which contained the rands but they wanted more.

“He gave them US$130,” said the source.

They hijacked his car, kidnapped him and then dumped him near Luveve Cemetery

The money changer reported the matter at Luveve police station.
