Two men have been arrested after they were found with an unlicensed gun which they had hid under the seat of their car.
A source said alert police with dogs got suspicious when Owen Limakho (32) and Mbuso Dube (34) parked their Toyota Mark 11 car a few metres from them at Plumtree business centre.
Police officers swiftly moved to the car and the pair disembarked from it and ran away. The cops chased after them and caught up with them.
“They searched the car and found a pistol hidden under the driver’s seat. As one of the cops was clutching the gun, one of the guys seized the gun from the cop and ran away.
The officers chased after him and caught him and handcuffed him before taking them to Plumtree police station,” said the source.
It was discovered that the pair had no license for the gun.
Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena could not be reached for a comment.
Dube and Limakho are expected to appear in court soon.
