A DARING married man threatened to beat up his wife in court after losing a protection order case against her.
Presiding magistrate Rutendo Machingura, dismissed the application made by Edward Chapanduka, against his wife, Elizabeth Chiganda, for lack of merit.
Edward had accused Elizabeth of physical abuse.
“My wife is in the habit of assaulting me, and she also threatens to kill me then commit suicide, in my house.
“On August 29, she assaulted me and struck my head with a stone.
“Her plan is for me to retaliate so that she reports me to the police.
“The reason behind all this is because she is now failing to c0nceive.
“We only have one child since 2008.
“She attempted to take her life on three occasions.
“She indicated that she will come to my workplace to tarnish my professional reputation.
“She always insults me in the presence of our daughter,” said Edward.
Responding to his claims, Elizabeth admitted some of the allegations.
“My husband is being influenced by his relatives because of infertility issues.
“Yes, I do assault him because I am not happy with the affair that he is having.
“I recently came across a message from his girlfriend and he indicated that the woman is better than me.
“If I cook for him, he doesn’t eat. He is now spending most of his time with his girlfriend.
“In terms of threatening to go to his workplace, I was just threatening him so that he changes his behaviour,” said Elizabeth.
As they left the courtroom, after the magistrate had dismissed his application, Edward threatened to beat up Elizabeth.
“I’m going to beat you up,” said an upset Edward, as he walked out.
