A man teamed up with his friend and confronted his girlfriend at Bulawayo’s Buena Vista suburb before assaulting her and her friend for cheating.
A source said a man named Fa and his friend (name not supplied) arrived at Thembelihle Ntutha’s (21) family home this week on Monday, shortly after 11pm and found Ntutha with her friend called Brenda Madola (20) and accused her of cheating on him.
An argument ensued as they traded insults and Fa’s friend insulted Brenda branding her a pr0stitute.
The pair, who were armed with a stick and an iron bar, grabbed Brenda before assaulting her.
“Fa’s friend accused Brenda of double-crossing him with another guy from the suburb. They then slapped her and kicked her all over the body, leaving her lying on the ground,” said the source.
They turned on Ntutha and grabbed her by her neck before bashing her while accusing her of being a bad influence on Brenda, the witness said.
Ntutha, the witness said, screamed for help prompting a neighbour to come to her rescue. Upon seeing a neighbour coming, Fa and his friend ran away.
On the following day, Ntutha and her friend reported the incident at Hillside Police Station. Ntutha and Brenda declined comment on the matter.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
He discouraged community members from resorting to violence whenever they are faced with a misunderstanding and said they would rather engage relatives, friends, pastors or the police.
