Chaos at bar as gunman threatens to kill waitress

A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo was arrested at a local bar after he produced a pellet gun and allegedly harassed a waitress while threatening to kill her with it.

Police were reportedly called to a bar situated along Fife Street, Between 11th and 12th Avenues after Don Zengeya from Sizinda suburb threatened Lubelihle Sibanda with the “dreaded” weapon.

Circumstances are that on 7 October 2022 and at around 11pm Sibanda was at her workplace when she was approached by Zengeya who wanted to change his beer claiming the one she had given him was not cold.

Sibanda reportedly took the beer and changed it.

For reasons yet to be established, Zengeya reportedly asked Sibanda if their premises were secured with Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras but she reportedly kept quiet.

For no apparent reason Zengeya then opened his satchel and showed Sibanda a small pellet gun before he threatened to kill her if ever she told anyone that he was in possession of the ‘dangerous’ weapon.

Out of fear Sibanda then advised the security guard who quickly called the police who also swiftly reacted.

Upon arrival the police conducted a search on Zengeya and they found him in possession of the pellet gun.

On being questioned by the police Zengeya failed to give a satisfactory reason leading to his arrest.

For the offence Zengeya has since appeared in court before Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda facing two counts of possession of articles for criminal use and threats of violence.

He was not asked to plead to both counts and was remanded out of custody to 27 October 2022 on $20 000 bail.
