THE families of the two young women who were shot dead allegedly by their cop boyfriend say he shouldn’t get bail.
The families said an online petition to oppose bail will be put out soon.
They are appealing to people to sign it so the accused doesn’t get bail.
The families said this outside the Pinetown Magistrates Court where Constable Mlungisi Sikhakhane (27) made his second court appearance on Wednesday, 26 October.
Sikhakhane faces two counts of murder after he allegedly shot his girlfriends Enhle Majozi (18) and 23-year-old Sithembile Ngobese. The two were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Sikhakhane’s rented room at KwaNyuswa, Durban, earlier this month.
It’s alleged that he used his service firearm and he was arrested immediately after the shooting.
Dressed in a grey jersey, black jeans and black and white takkies, Sikhakhane was supposed to apply for bail but his defence team asked for an adjournment to gather information from new witnesses.
Enhle’s father Oscar Msomi (38) told Daily Sun: “We really don’t want to see a person like this out on the streets,” he said.
Magistrate Gwendolyn Robinson postponed the matter to Monday, 7 November, for the defence to gather information from witnesses.
