SO SAD: Boy hangs self, leaves a note for his mother after a schoolmate accused him of rape

OLUTHANDO Sithole (17) wanted to tell the world that he was innocent.

“I am not a rap!st,” reads the teenager’s suicide note found with his body.

Oluthando from Kriel outside Emalahleni in Mpumalanga was found hanging in a storeroom at Kriel Hoerskool in Emalahleni on Thursday, 17 November.

It is believed he committed suicide after writing exams.

He allegedly ended his life after a schoolmate accused him of rap_e.

Oluthando, who was the head boy at the school, left a note for his mother.

In the letter, he said: “Mama, by the time you are reading this, I’ll be already gone.”

He said he suffered enough alone.

Writing in two languages, he said: “Aze angizonde kangaka.

“What did I do for her to hate me like this? I am gone. May she forgive me for what I did to her but I didn’t rap_e her. I am not a rap!st.”

Oluthando said his problems were now resolved and he would have a long sleep.

Oluthando said he had to do what he did because he was going to be judged. He said he was now leaving the girl in the darkest world and her sky would turn grey.

“May my tears be a golden memory in her life. May she never find peace in her life,” he said.

Chairman of Not In My Name Themba Masango said they believed that harsh sentences should also be given to those who come with false accusations.

Police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police have opened an inquest.

Oluthando’s mother, Thembani Sithole, refused to speak to the SunTeam.
