A Catholic priest, Emmanuel Gurumombe, has reported his nephew, Stephen Kimbini, to the police for extortion. Kimbini had allegedly threatened to release pictures of the priest in compromising hom0sexual positions, claiming that the police had concocted the images and demanded money to prevent their release on social media.
Gurumombe paid Kimbini a total of US$40,000 on various occasions between June last year and this month to prevent the pictures from being released. Kimbini had set the plot in motion in June last year and had claimed that he was passing on the money to the police.
However, when Kimbini demanded an additional US$1,500 from Gurumombe and threatened to sell the pictures to social media bloggers, the priest reported him to the police. A trap was set, and Kimbini was arrested when he arrived with David Maloya to collect the money.
Kimbini is now facing extortion charges for his actions. The incident has shocked the community, and the police have issued a warning against extortion and other criminal activities.
