Villagers of Ngwaladi in Nkayi are still trying to come to terms with what many suspect to be a case of witchcraft after a mysterious lightning bolt struck two homesteads in the area after an unnamed villager threatened the families with lightning during a beer drink.
Canta Mabhazalale whose homestead was struck by lightning told B-Metro that they were still trying to come to terms with what happened.
“Yes, it is true that a bolt of lightning struck my homestead. I am currently not in a position to say what exactly happened or speculate but during a beer drink one of our neighbours threatened me and my family with lightning but we did not take it seriously as we thought that it was one of those idle threats. Little did we know that later on during the day we would be singing a different tune,” said Mabhazalale.
B-Metro gathered that children at one of the homesteads had mysteriously fallen sick after the incident while the other family lost three goats.
“I know the person who threatened us but I am in no position to say whether or not he is the one who sent the lightning. I lost three goats as a result but I hope we come to a conclusion over the matter,” said a woman identified as Sibusiso Ncube whose homestead was also struck by the lightning bolt.
The families are yet to discuss the issue as they were still shaken by what happened. – B-Metro
