There was chaos when a Bulawayo man tried to break his wife's leg after catching her cheating for the second time with her boyfriend in the couple's matrimonial house.
The 30-year-old woman, Nozipho Mdlawuzwo, from Pumula South suburb, was allegedly beaten up by her husband, Mativeza Chirombe as punishment for cheating on him and being caught several times.
Chirombe, in a bid to teach his wife not to lease her 'sexual valve' to other men, reportedly attacked her with a brick on the left leg, as if he was beating up a thief.
Prosecutor Kingstone Mkangamwi told the court that on 23 July, the couple had a misunderstanding and Chirombe accused his wife of cheating on him. The man is said to have armed himself with a full brick and hit his wife on the left leg.
The alleged cheating woman could not fathom the attack, and for that reason she reported the matter to police, leading to her husband's arrest. The woman was then referred to hospital for medical examination.
Chirombe appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Sheunesu Matova charged with physical abuse. He came out clean and pleaded guilty to the charges.
"I failed to control my temper after I caught my wife cheating on me for the second time with her boyfriend in my house," he told the court.
The man was lucky after the magistrate 'understood' his situation and gave him a lighter sentence. A five-month prison term was wholly suspended on condition that Chirombe will not commit a similar offence even if he catches his wife cheating on him for the third time.
