In a bid to avoid being caught red-handed, cheating with another woman, a Bulawayo man became the talk of the Newton West suburb after he decided to hide in the wardrobe.
The married man took his wife by surprise when he turned another woman's wardrobe into a hiding cabin as his wife was seriously hunting for him at night.
On 6 August at around 8pm, Joyce Makuto reportedly retired to bed, leaving her husband, Reon Mpofu, the alleged drama king, ion the dining room where he was said to be working on a computer.
It is said that at about 11pm and apparently after the bed had gone too cold, Joyce is said to have dashed to the dining room looking for her husband so that he could give her a goodnight quickie. However, the woman was shocked to learn that his husband was nowhere to be found.
Suspicions having got the better of her, Joyce quickly went to her younger sister Tariro Makuto's bedroom but she still could not find her husband. However, all hell broke loose when she finally barged into their fellow female tenant Moreblessing's bedroom where she found her sex-craze husband stashed in the woman's wardrobe.
The woman simply asked her husband what she was doing at night in another woman's wardrobe, and this did not go down too well with Mpofu who them bashed his wife for catching him cheating. As if that was not enough, the self-employed Mpofu also assaulted Joyce's younger sister after she reprimanded him for beating up her sister.
The matter was later reported to the police and Mpofu the drama king got arrested. For the offence, the man was hauled before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa charged wwith domestic violence.
he pleaded guilty to both counts and was remanded out of custody on free bail to a later date for plea recording.
