24 high school girls in hot soup for O Level exam fraud

SOME 24 Nagle House High School girls appeared in court Thursday charged with fraudulently accessing a 2017 Ordinary Level Mathematics exam paper.

The students appeared before Magistrate Tendai Muchini who heard that they had illegal access to the Paper 1 of the mathematics exam a day before the exam and revised it as a team at their hostels.

However, the matter came to light after Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) examiners discovered similarities on how the students answered the questions.

The exams board instituted investigations, leading to the arrest of the scholars this week.

The students, who are facing academic fraud charges, were all remanded out of custody on free bail to next week. Nagle House is a Roman Catholic-run school.

Last November, 12 external students were stopped from writing the Mathematics Paper 1 after it was discovered that they had unduly accessed the examination paper before the exam date.

The 12 students were later arrested and were granted a $100 bail each in court.

The matter is still pending at the courts.
