The silver-lining on Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba’s recent grey cloud has been short-lived.
Barely days after being part of 30 senior police officials to be forced into retirement but survived, she now faces a social media storm.
A leaked voice note allegedly recorded by Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba and sent into a family group has gone viral.
In the voice note, a female voice is extending gratitudes to her family and friends who stood by her and throwing obscenities at those that shared the news of “her” dismissal.
The newspapers are not spared in the rant as they are accused of spreading falsehoods to taint her name.
“Zvanga zvamhanya nemapenzi achi publisher vasina kumbobvunza kuti vanzwe chokwadi” the voice note said.
After the provisional celebration on social media, the finger-masters are now using this voice note and a few videos being circulated as the new pivot for attacks.
Khuluma Afrika reached out to Senior Assistant Commisioner Charity Charamba who refereed us to Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Superintendent Paul Nyathi who on record denied the involvement of Snr Ass Comm Charamba in the creation and distribution of that voice note.
In a statement he remarked,“This is a categorical refusal to any involvement of Chief Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba in this voice note. She does not comment on social media work related issues. Z.R.P has noted fake videos and denigrating voice notes being circulated which is an offense and investigations are underway. The law will take it’s course.”
A family source however asserted that there had been a mole in the family. The source however could not confirm if it was indeed the Ass Commissioner on the voice note.
“There is too much Shona used in that voice note though the voice is sounding familiar but i can note some irregularities from the way Tete speaks” the source added.
It remains to be seen if these new allegations will hold any water.
The movements in the national police force since the new dispensation have been nothing short of unpredictable of late.
Will this cloud pass or translate to rain?
