The new Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Development, Professor Amon Murwira has banned Technology Mathematics and Engineering (STEM) jingles introduced by his predecessor Jonathan Moyo on radio and television.
He said that what is needed by the country is hard work and not jingles and added that the jingles were merely for grandstanding.
“STEM is not new in Zimbabwe, it was there, it is here and it will be here. It will be repackaged so that it produces goods and services and it should be expressed through innovation hubs.
There is no need for grandstanding about our achievements, they should be there for all to see, we want to work and not sing,” said Murwira.
He said this during a tour of higher education institutions in Masvingo two weeks ago.
