Zimbabwean woman kills South African baby in sewage water THE BOYFRIEND could see from his wife's stomach she was no longer pregnant – but she didn't want to tell him where the baby was.

"I asked my girlfriend why she no longer had a big tummy, but she didn't answer me. I suspected she did something to my child. I called the community so that she could explain her actions, and we called the cops," said the boyfriend from Ivory Park near Midrand, Gauteng in South Africa.
The 23-year-old Zimbabwean woman confessed she gave birth and put the child in a bucket of water before throwing it into a dirty stream of sewage in Kaalfontein, near Ivory Park.
She took the cops to the place where she had dumped the baby. Ivory Park cops searched the water and found the baby's body.
The woman told cops she didn't have money to buy clothes for the child. The boyfriend said that the mum didn't work.
"I was supporting her and our 20-month-old baby," he said. I don't know why she killed my child for financial reasons.
The child was going to survive like the rest of us." Ivory Park cop spokeswoman Nelda Sekgobela said the woman will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court soon on a murder charge.
In Alexandra, north of Joburg, an unknown woman secretly gave birth and dumped her dead baby in a drain.
Yesterday morning residents watched as the baby was taken out, covered in mud and rubbish, by workers from Joburg Water.
Resident Hlobisile Khumalo said it really hurt her to see a baby dumped like that.
Cop spokesman Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the workers found the body when they were clearing a blocked pipe.
"An inquest docket has been opened," Maphakela said.
