AN EPWORTH teenager is being accused of teaming up with two other friends to kill a man over an $8 debt.
Blessing Chanyuka, 18, was not asked to plead to the offence when he appeared before Harare magistrate Tilda Mazhande facing murder charges.
Two other alleged accomplices are still at large.
Prosecuting, Hilda Gadzikwa, opposed bail and the matter has been remanded to April 4.
The State has also highlighted that it holds a strong case against the accused as five witnesses are set to appear in court.
The State had it that at around 10 pm on March 5, the accused in the company of two friends who are still at large demanded their $8 debt from the now deceased Joseph Mukwashi at Manyuki Shops in Epworth.
After failing to get the money from the late Mukwashi, the trio began assaulting him with fists and a metal object.
He was left unconscious and later discovered by an informant who reported the matter to ZRP Epworth.
The now deceased sustained a swollen head and was vomiting blood.
On March 6, the now deceased was taken to Harare Hospital by his friend Thomas Sakala and was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit upon arrival.
Mukwashi then died on March 8 and a post mortem ruled that his death was caused by the assault.
On March 19, officers from the ZRP arrested the accused at Harare Central Hospital.
