President Mugabe breathes fire as Magaya is poisoned

President Mugabe yesterday revealed the devious attempt after appointing the new Presidium and Politburo members at an extraordinary Central Committee meeting in Harare yesterday.

Before any news media had published the breaking news, our 90-year-old President Mugabe was the first to break the news, revealing that Ms Catherine Magaya had been poisoned in a bid to assassinate newly appointed Vice President Emmerson Mnanganwa.

My Zimbabwe News has since gathered that Ms Magaya is popularly known as ‘Prophetess Magaya’ at the Zanu PF offices because she shares a surname with prominent Prophet Walter Magaya.

Said Mugabe: “But why do this? You were hoping that it will go for Mnangagwa; oh shame it went for this poor girl, his secretary. Mnangagwa’s secretary was badly affected by the attempted poisoning and was taken to hospital. We are aware of people who really want to harm us, physical harm also,” said President Mugabe.

“I was talking about the incident that happened kumaoffices edu, ezanu-pf. The offices of Cde Mnangagwa were broken into last night and poisonous powder is spread all over the desk and so on. That powder, which when the door opens and there is that flash of air will be blown up and then he would breathe it.

“So it was not Mnangagwa who opened the door, it was the secretary (Ms Catherine Magaya) who opened the door and poor girl there she was, she breathed it and she is a mess. She is in Intensive Care just now. Ko pamusana peyi? Chatatadza chii? Why? Why? Why? We want investigations to be done. I am just warning you that it’s not always those who smile at us who are our friends. Take care!”

“We have demanded a probe on the issue and we are not going to allow it to go like that. They thought that Mnangagwa would be the first to go in and be attacked, unfortunately it had to be this poor girl, why do such things for power,” added President Mugabe.

Mugabe seemed to infer that the Mujuru faction, which is now referred to as the “counter revolutionary and quisling cabal”, was behind the attempted attack his newly appointed deputy.

Police said the matter has since been reported to them and investigations are currently under way.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has received a report to the effect that some poisonous substance was thrown into the honourable Vice President and Second Secretary of zanu-pf Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s office at the zanu-pf Headquarters last night,” said police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba.

“We are not yet clear of the exact time. We wish to state that as ZRP, we are currently investigating this very serious incident and we strongly condemn this unlawful act and wish therefore to state that such acts of criminal sabotage and violence on senior Government and party officials will be dealt with and the culprits shall face the full wrath of the law which will be applied once the culprit are identified. We are appealing to anybody with information with regards to the incident to report to the nearest police station.”

Sources said: “When Ms Magaya got into Cde Mnangagwa’s office to tidy it, she saw some substance on the table and started feeling dizzy. That is when she called at Cde Mnangagwa’s ministry advising them about the break-in and her condition. A vehicle was immediately dispatched and took her to a private hospital in an unstable condition where she was admitted into the ICU. No visitors are allowed as her condition is bad.”

It is understood that Ms Magaya’s condition had improved by end of day yesterday.

In the run-up to last week’s Zanu PF congress, the public media revealed sensational details of a plot to assassinate 90-year-old Mugabe who has been in power since the country gained majority rule from Britain 34 years ago.

The plot, according to the reports, involved Mujuru, expelled party spokesperson Rugare Gumbo as well sacked cabinet ministers Didymus Mutasa (Presidential Affairs) and Nicholas Goche (Labour).

Mujuru is accused of working with western powers and the opposition in Zimbabwe to further the much vilified “regime change agenda”.

The former VP and Gumbo have strenuously denied the accusation and instead claimed Mugabe is being misinformed by a coterie of hangers on connected to the faction led by Mnangagwa.

They insist that the former guerrilla movement has been infiltrated by a group of “gay gangsters working to destroy the party from within”.
