A 60-year-old Zvishavane woman is seeking a peace order against her grandchildren who she accuse of putting dog waste into the mealie-meal which she uses to cook her sadza.
Joyce Phiri of Highlands in Zvishavane is seeking a peace order against her two grandsons Lesley Phiri (19) and his young brother who is aged 17 and are both students at Mandava High School.
Phiri complained to Magistrate Shepherd Munjanja of Zvishavane that the two who are trying to push her out of her house even go to the extent of passing uri_ne into her pots. They also scold her, using vul_gar language, she said in court.
She asked for a peace order before the worst happens to her. She also accused the father of the two boys, Emmanuel Phiri of siding with his children.
She said that she and her grandchildren were no longer cooking together because of the bad blood between them.
Mbuya Phiri who sobbed in court said his son and grandsons did not care about her welfare because all they wanted from her was her house. She said she now lived on food donations from neighbours.
However, Emmanuel who was speaking on behalf of his children disputed the accusations and said that her mother was mentally ill.
"She is lying because everyone knows that she is mentally disturbed," said Emmanuel.
Phiri however, told the court that she was not mentally disturbed. She also accused her son of bringing his girlfriends home.
The case was postponed to September 12, 2018 as Phiri was asked to present medical reports.
