One person died upon arrival at Masvingo Provincial Hospital after a WISH with six passengers overturned three times at the 5km peg along Masvingo-Harare Highway after a head on collision with a tanker.
According to eye witnesses the driver of the WISH was allegedly chatting on his mobile phone and lost control of his vehicle which encroached into the right lane resulting in the head on collision with a tanker coming from Harare.
The other five passengers including the driver sustained injuries and one is reported to be in serious condition.
Masvingo provincial Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the accident.
"I don't have much details but one person died before medical personnel could attend to the person at the Hospital," said Mazula.
She also advised commuters to travel in registered passenger vehicles.
