Cooking oil queues hit Harare

Shoppers are enduring long queues to get their hands on cooking oil at the official price of $3.70.

Syndicates have been mopping up the precious liquid and selling it at a profit on the parallel market.

Retailers are receiving limited supplies forcing them to ration stocks to one or two bottles per customer.

Riot police had to be called in this morning at Pick n Pay Jason Moyo Harare (pictured) as shop staff struggled to control the crowd.

Zimbabwe is battling an acute foreign currency shortage that has led to basic commodity shortages.
