A Guruve man Owen Gumbura (38) of Murondatsimba village under Chief Chipuriro has been jailed to an effective twelve years for raping a 11 year old girl by Bindura magistrate Sandra Mupindu.
According to court papers, on 19 August 2018 Gumbura met the 11-year-old complainant (whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim) who was chasing away baboons at their garden in the bushy area of Murondatsimba village. The court was told that Gumbura tried to shake the girl’s hand and she refused.
He then grabbed the victim, tripped her to the ground, ripped her clothes before raping her once without protection.
After the act Gumbura threatened the victim with death if she dared to divulge what transpired to anyone.
When the girl arrived home she narrated her ordeal to her mother who then accompanied her to the police station to file a report which led to Gumbura’s arrest.
