A MHONDORO woman has been dragged to court on allegations of attempting to kill her father-in-law.
Sheila Nyamutswaboko pleaded not guilty when she appeared before Harare magistrate Morgan Nemadire.
The State represented by Nancy Chandakaona heard that on October 21, Nyamutswaboko intentionally assaulted Bothwell Mandaza with a hoe on his head.
It is alleged that Mandaza came to Nyamutswaboko’s place where he was looking for his son and started quarrelling with his other daughter-in-law, Christine Ngara over going out with her husband only identified as Tapiwa.
Nyamutswaboko tried to restrain the two and Mandaza turned his attention to her and they started exchanging vulgar words.
During this encounter, it is said Nyamutswaboko took a burning firewood and attempted to hit Mandaza after he held her by her chest.
The court heard that the two dragged each other outside their house and started fighting.
After the assault, Nyamutswaboko then took a hoe and stroke Mandaza on his forehead.
Mandaza fell unconsciously and his wife carried him home and later to the hospital.
The matter was remanded to November 12.
