0

A snap survey in Harare by ZBC News today has revealed that the fuel situation worsened with most service stations experiencing long winding queues whilst several others were out of stock of both diesel and petrol.

Despite government guarantee that it is working flat out to address fuel challenges in the country, the situation prevailing in Harare is dire, a scenario that will certainly affect productivity of most businesses as fuel is a key facilitator.

Motorists have called upon the government to prioritise fuel availability in the country.

Efforts to contact the Minister of Energy and Power Development Jorum Gumbo and the Permanent Secretary were fruitless as they are in Mozambique.

Meanwhile, Finance and Economic Development Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube attributed fuel shortages to disruptions in foreign currency inflows at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

Fuel availability is of paramount importance for any economy and particularly for a nation like Zimbabwe as it is a key economic enabler with regards to powering agricultural and mining activities which are anchors of the economy.
