DANCEHALL chanter Soul Jah Love real name Soul Muzavazi Musaka was yesterday granted $200 bail after appearing in court for breaching a Civil Aviation Authority regulation.
Soul Jah Love pleaded not guilty before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye who deferred the matter to January 9 for trial.
He was arrested on December 12 at the Robert Mugabe International Airport for unruly conduct as he disrupted smooth flow of proceedings at the airport.
He was arrested in terms of Section 83(4) of Statutory Instrument of 2016 which deals with security at the airport.
It is the State’s case that on December 12 at around 10:30 am, the 29-year-old arrived at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International airport intending to board Air Zimbabwe destined for South Africa.
The Ndini Uya Uya singer proceeded to the International screening point where he placed his inflated black and white basketball and some of his stuff on the tray for clearance.
The musician was then told by an aviation security officer Patricia Mbodza to deflate his basketball in order to get into the plane because no inflated balls were allowed into any plane according to aviation regulations.
Soul Jah Love refused to deflate his ball and returned to the departures hall holding the ball.
After about 10 minutes, the entertainer returned to the international screening point again and went to the machine that was being operated by another aviation security officer Tendai Damson where upon arrival he was referred back to aviation security officer Patricia Mbodza who had earlier served him.
Mbodza then asked the musician why he had not complied with civil Aviation Security Regulations before inviting her colleague Kennedy Manjengwa to assist her on the issue.
Soul Jah Love was subsequently arrested.
