Musician Andy Muridzo yesterday failed to reach an agreement with his ex-wife Chido Manyange who is claiming $1 800 maintenance for their two minor children.
The couple broke up last November.
The matter was heard before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa who deferred proceedings to tomorrow to allow parties to agree.
Through his lawyer, Andy had offered to pay $300 for the two children.
The lawyer also said his client was unable to attend court after falling sick.
However, Mai Keketso represented by Hon. Innocent Gonese refused the offer submitting that it wasn’t enough for her children’s upkeep.
“We would rather the respondent pays $1 000 as a substantial amount and anything less than that is unacceptable.
“We were almost about to reach an agreement but failed to come to any conclusion with the respondent’s counsel.
“If it pleases the court we may defer proceedings to tomorrow so that my colleague engages his client for a reasonable amount,” said the lawyer.
In her papers Mai Keketso maintained that she would keep renting the $400 apartment that Andy left her in Damofalls.
She says she prefers the life the musician exposed her to and he continues to cater for his child’s education.
The hearing continues today at the Harare Civil Court.
