Clattos Munyaviri has stepped down as the teacher-in-charge at Bubi Primary after his girlfriend who is a single mother of four caused havoc in the school demanding that the former marries her.
Elvis Mushayabasa (42) who is a divorcee is refusing to leave Munyaviri, a married man notwithstanding a peace order placed against her. She is stuck to Munyaviri like a tick.
Mwenezi Resident Magistrate Madhlenkosi Ndlovu fined Mushayabasa $50 or 30 days imprisonment last week after she broke into Munyaviri’s house at the school twice; cleaned the pots, prepared a meal and then washed the teacher-in-charge’s clothes.
Agitated by the girlfriend’s behavior, Munyaviri successfully sought a peace from Mwenezi Magistrates Court last year and she was barred from visiting the teacher’s house or workplace.
Munyaviri said that Mushayabasa, continued tormenting him despite the peace order. He said that Mushayabasa went to Munyaviri’s rural home in Masvingo under Chief Charumbira and introduced herself to the village head as Munyaviri’s new wife.
“I was shocked to receive a phone call from my village head summoning me to come and solve my issues because there was a lady called Elvis who was threatening to introduce herself to my wife as the second wife," said Munyaviri.
Mushayabasa came to the school office and dipped a school handset used for business transactions into a bucket of water. It is then that Munyaviri realized that it was time to resign before getting into trouble with authorities.
