SA-based man brutally beats neighbour for sleeping with his wife in Cyclone-ravaged Chimanimani


IN a perfect case of jumping from the frying pan to fire, a hapless man from Chipinge who survived the Chimanimani floods is now battling for his life in hospital after being brutally assaulted by South African based man who accused him of bedding his wife.

Josiah Altyson Sithole (age unknown) of Chinyamukwakwa village in Chipinge was brutally attacked by Maxwell Masonga (32).

It is reported that Masonga who had come from South Africa to check on the welfare of his family in the wake of the floods, was met with the agonising news that his wife was b_edding Sithole.

After a tip-off, Masonga confronted Sithole who denied the allegations that he was having an affair with his wife. Masonga is reported to have struck Sithole with a brick on the head and face several times.

Sithole was then scurried to St Peter’s Hospital and later transferred to Chiredzi district hospital.

Appearing before Chipinge Magistrate, Joshua Nembaware, facing assault charges, Masonga was remanded in custody to April 8 as the state awaits Sithole’s medical report.
