AN EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl reportedly hid her lover in big water bucket after she was caught red-handed by her father whilst in the house with him.
Mildred Nyamapanda was then chased away by her father Steve Nyamapanda from the house over the issue.
The matter came to light at the Harare Civil Court where Mildred applied for a protection order against her father.
The court heard that Steve regularly visits Mildred who is now staying with her lover.
“My father beat up me badly after he found me with my boyfriend in the kitchen.
“He had gone to a funeral and it was our time to enjoy ourselves but he suddenly came and the fracas began.
“He was angry with the situation and he gave me a through hiding to an extent that I was about to fall unconscious.
“He attacked me with a firewood and I was badly hurt,” she said.
Added Mildred: “I do not want him to visit my place of residence because after this incident he chased me away.
“My Lord, he is coming to where I am living now, scolding us and wishing us bad luck, so that’s why I am asking for protection against him.”
Nyamapanda did not oppose the granting of the protection order.
“I caught my daughter kissing and cuddling with a gardener at my house.
“I am well respected in my community because of my wealth in Mazowe but my own daughter does not respect me.”
“I just came from a funeral and I caught them.
“I was disappointed when I found out that she had hidden her boyfriend in a bucket and he was not breathing properly due to lack of air.
“Yes I beat her thoroughly because I was so angry?” fumed Steve.
Presiding magistrate Tafadzwa Miti granted the protection order in Mildred’s favour and advised her to respect her father and always accept corrections.
