Seven boys living on Bulawayo’s streets and an adult allegedly drugged a juvenile before sodomising him.
The seven, who are accused of sodomising a local school boy, are aged between 15 and 19 years. The other suspect is aged 22 and also lives on the streets.
They all appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Franklin Mkhwananzi facing charges of sodomy and were remanded in custody to June 20.
Prosecutors said on May 24 the boy ran away from home after he was reprimanded by his grandmother and started staying on the streets.
He met the accused, who took him to an abandoned building in the city centre where they drugged him before taking turns to sodomise him.
The boy was rescued by well-wishers after enduring abuse for a week.
