Lecturers at the Midlands State University have said they are now incapacitated and can no longer report for duty as the RTGS$ continues to lose value.
In a letter dated 18 June 2019 and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, the lecturers say their salary has now fallen below US$200 and cannot take them through even one week.
They also wrote that they will “try” their best to finish marking their examinations by 30th June.
“We write on behalf of lecturers of the Midlands State University.
“Lecturers’ salaries have drastically fallen to the equivalent of around US$200 per month given that the RTGS$ continues to lose value against other currencies.
“This salary now fails to take any family person for a week, hence we wish to notify you that we are now incapacitated.
“In this regard, we will also try our best to have finished marking of exams by the 30th of June 2019.”
