A Chipinge cop was brutally stabbed to death at the Chibuwe Business Centre and Growth Point last week after arresting a murder suspect.
Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the brutal attack saying that Kadeya was murdered after he had arrested the suspected murderer who had committed an offence at the Growth Point.
“The suspect had been lawfully arrested after committing an offence and had no reason or whatsoever to resist and in the process to attack the Police detail who was performing his constitutional responsibility,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
Ass Comm Nyathi said the suspected murderer Lloyd Mahovhana, 33, was arrested after committing the offence.
Ass Comm Nyathi said they condemned in the strongest terms acts by some unruly members of the public who are disregarding lawful orders by Police Officers after being arrested after committing offences.
He urged members of the public to desist from crime, co-operate and allow the law to take its course whenever one committed an offence.
“Members of the public should not get involved in crime or unlawful acts because the law will take its course.
“Members of the public should not take matters of the law into their hands but should allow the Police to do their job,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
