A CHITUNGWIZA man was yesterday taken to court for assaulting his father.
Mike Gweshe, 24, appeared before a Harare magistrate Joseph Mundondo accused of assaulting his father Cuthbert Gweshe.
The matter was postponed to June 27 for trial.
The State represented by David Vurayai alleges that on March 27 this year at around 6pm, Cuthbert Gweshe went to see his ex-wife Angela who stays in Belvedere so that they discuss issues of welfare of their younger son Trevor Gweshe.
Upon arrival Cuthbert found his ex-wife with her boyfriend sitting inside the car half naked.
Cuthbert told Angela’s boyfriend that he had come to discuss family matters with his ex-wife.
Angela responded that she had no business with Cuthbert because her boyfriend was now taking care of her.
Cuthbert and Angela quarrelled till Angela decided to phone Mike their eldest son who then arrived immediately.
Upon realising that Mike was in fury when he arrived, Cuthbert advised his son not to attack him since he was not aware of what had led his parents to have a conflict but the son failed to listen.
Mike allegedly grabbed his father by the neck and hit him with his elbow on the neck.
It is the State case that Mike dragged and hit his father for some time until he fell down to the ground.
Cuthbert was sent to the Chitungwiza Central Hospital where he was treated.
Mike was then arrested and his subsequent appearance in court.
