Cephas Muremba (30), from Victoria Range Suburb in Masvingo has been remanded in custody after he allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend Elizabeth Dzingi (29) with an unknown object.
Muremba who was not asked to plead appeared before Magistrate Godswill Mavenge on Saturday and was remanded to July 4, 2019.
According to the State the incident happened on Tuesday last week.
Although details are still sketchy, the State outline is that on Tuesday last week at Main Entrance Gate number 37 in Victoria Range, Muremba had a misunderstanding with Dzingi who works in Chiredzi and he allegedly stabbed her once on the left shoulder with an unknown sharp object.
The two were at a local bar in Victoria Range when a misunderstanding arose. When they were home the two continued to quarrel to the extent that Muremba left the house and Dzingi followed him.
The landlady Patience Jiri heard Dzingi and Muremba quarrelling and then she heard Dzingi crying for help. When she went outside she found Dzingi in a pool of blood.
The identity particulars of Muremba were discovered at the scene of crime. Muremba was only arrested on Thursday last week and it is understood that he attempted suicide by drinking an unknown poison.
